Garrison Postgraduate College for men, Lahore, was founded by Lieutenant General Humayun Khan Bangash, HI(M) T.BT, Commander 4 Corps and Patron Lahore Garrison Education System (LGES), in December 1994 to fulfil the long-felt need of a College for Boys in the Cantonment area, which could cater for  quality education in a disciplined environment. The academic activities at the College started on 3rd September 1995 with the commencement of F.Sc level classes affiliated with Federal Board. The degree classes started in November 1997 and the College has since been affiliated with Punjab University at degree level. In September 2005, Humanities and Commerce classes were introduced and the college was renamed as Garrison Degree College instead of Garrison Science Degree College.
Another milestone has been Commencement of 4 years B.Sc(Hons) Computer Science programme, affiliated with The University Of Engineering And Technology (UET) Lahore in January 2000. In Dec 2008 an other step started for B.Com affiliated with Punjab University. After one year college has started MA Classes

The College campus is located on Faisal Ghuman Shaheed Road Lahore Cantt adjacent to Sector ‘A’ of Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Opposite Nishat Colony. It has a number of approaches – one from Defence Society Sector ‘A’ another from R-A Bazaar and yet another from Walton Road, opposite Cavalry Ground.
The Campus is spread over an area of 12.5 acres with a modern purpose built building, spacious sports grounds and well-equipped laboratories. The building has a capacity of 1500 students.
The aim of the College, besides imparting knowledge of the prescribed courses of studies, is to develop the potential in the students to the optimum in all its facets-e.g. intellectual, character and physical. This is accomplished by providing a free academic environment conducive to unhindered and frequent interaction, at personal level, between the students and the College faculty. Personality development of the students is ensured by encouraging their participation in a diverse mix of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities as well as by providing opportunities to shoulder appropriate responsibilities in various societies, clubs and organizations. Physical development is achieved by providing facilities for various games and sports.
